What should I avoid at karaoke?

Ballads.  Dear God, please avoid the ballads.  Unless you truly bring it, and own the song, no one wants to hear your rendition of Wicked Game.

what? WHAT?? the ballads are the best part of karaoke! ok, sure, i appreciate a solid rock song or gangsta rap, but how else can you be overdramatic without a cheesy ballad? next time we karaoke together, i’m going to get all “nothing compares to you” in your bidness.

You have to re-read what I wrote. I said “Unless you truly bring it, and own the song,” which I am very certain you would do in your ballad. I have just had enough of people standing there, staring at the screen, trying their best to do the song exactly as it is written, with no feeling, no chutzpah, no ass-kicking. Karaoke is about committing and taking no prisoners! A ballad done under such circumstances would be a fine ballad indeed!

ahhhh, understood. i also get impatient with people who sing karaoke halfheartedly – not worth it!

also: i’ll try to stop commenting on blogs when i’m drunk and overtired.

Are you kidding me?! Your drunk and overtired comments make me FEEL ALIVE!
